Combing surface data with flow measurement data
 
Hello,

I am currently using tecplot to visualise in 3D the flow of a liquid through a pipe with a bulge. I have surface and flow data (surface data of the bulge) and I am trying to use tecplot to analyse the data by combing the surface and flow data to reconstruct the pipe and see whats going on.

I am new to tecplot so any feedback or suggestions would be much appreciated.

What is the data file format?
 
Hi Heather,

If the data are in *.plt format you can select both of them in the load data file dialog and they will open in the same frame. From there you will see the surface of the pipe. The volume will be there, but will most likely not have any style (like shade or mesh) shown. If your data is in other than *.plt/*.dat format you will need to load the surface (or the volume) and then load the volume in the same frame. This will get you to the same result.

Thanks that was very helpful! You wouldn't happen to know how I could plot the iso surface of the vorticity and from that analyse specific parts of interest.

Vorticity
 
Hi Tec,

if you navigate to the Analyze menu and select calculate variables. And click "Select" which will bring up a list of variables scroll down and you will see vorticity in the list.

Depending on the data you load you may have to set the Field variables which you will see under the Analyze menu.

Let me know if you get it to work for your purpose. BTW what version of Tecplot are you running?
