hi
I am simulation swirling flow in fluent. when i want to see the velocity vectors in fluent, i define a plane and in the vectors menu, i choose that plane to show the vectors on that and from the vector options select the "in plane" button to show the vectors inside the plane i have defined. now my question is: how can i do the same in tecplot? because when exporting data to tecplot there is no "in plane" option. any help is appreciated |

It's difficult for me to see exactly what you want. But let me know if this helps,
(1) create a slice in your 3D geometry. Define the position and plane normal. (2) then Data>extract> Current Slice (NOTE: this is not available in certain versions of tecplot) (3) Change the plot type to 2D Cartesian (4) Figure out how to plot the vectors here |

I have the same problem. Actually, I am simulating a flow which is rotational in (or say ) helical in a tube. Its sort of rotational periodic segment. I want to see velocity vectors in a 2dplane, that I made in Fluent but it does not show rotational flow in vector plots/ Now I want this in TEcplot. And there too it does not show vectors rotating. Where I am doing wrong? Fluent inputs ======== mas flow inlet x,y and z direction = 0 0 1 (Cartesian X, y and z) Rotation about z axis Flow is rotational periodic about z axis. Tecplot ===== Do I need to change vector from u v w velocities corresponding to x, y and z directions? |

It's difficult to say exactly why your vectors aren't plotting for correctly. make sure that the correct variables are assigned to the correct velocity/cartesian components would be a good start

Actually I did this, but the problem is not solved. Do I have to use some equation(s) , some conversion for velocity components or so?

hello dear
I want to plot velocity vector for a 2d case in CFD- post but I received an error as: " variable velocity is not a variable vector." I export velocity vector as variable from Ansys fluent. can anyone help me? |
