I'm about to submit a paper and the journal requires the images to be in jpg or tiff, with a 300 dpi resolution as minimum. However, I've not found a way to change the resolution when exporting from Tecplot.

I tried to set the frame size to the desired size and then, when asked for a size for the exported picture, multiplying this size by the desired resolution, but Tecplot just changes the size of the image and not the resolution.

Is it not possible to do this with Tecplot?

Ps. I can't use eps or pdf format for this journal.

Hello Jaydi,

In digital images, the DPI value isn't necessarily used because the DPI is dependent on the pixel count and the size of the image on paper. To get the desired DPI of 300, you would take the size of the image on your paper multiplied by the DPI to get the desired resolution you want.

If you really need the JPG file to have a dpi value of 300, you can use a program like GIMP to "rescale" the image. However, these will just update the DPI value field of the file description but not necessarily do anything to the image itself.

Resolution = DPI X Inches on paper

Thanks,
