"NoData" values for Tecplot .dat files
Probably this is a silly question, but I can't happen to find any information or documentation about this anywhere.
Simply put: How can someone define an "empty" value in Tecplot (e.g., a NaN, NA or Null) for a variable in the .dat input file or elsewhere? The reason why I need to do this, is because I have a large output generated from another routine, where certain variables have "gaps" because of how the data behaviors, and I need to interpolate them into another geometry while trying to maintain where these gaps are. My original idea was to simply import the whole data and a defined XYZ region in Tecplot and use the interpolate function, however, if I try to use any common namesake for the "NoData" fields, Tecplot won't accept the input. Another workaround I tried was to set an extreme value (i.e., -9999) as a NoData field, but when performing the interpolation, the -9999 value pollutes the interpolated data. Is there a way properly define an keep a "NoData" record in Tecplot, or should I simply use another tool/method to solve this issue? If so, may anyone give me a recommendation? Thanks in advance :D |
