A Ph.D. student position is available at University of Idaho (1st year on 
Moscow campus and then on Boise campus afterwards), Departments of 
Engineering and Civil Engineering. This position will be sponsored by the 
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and California Water Board 
investigate how water flows through salmon redds and assess the roles of 
and temperature on egg survival.  

The ideal candidate is expected to have a strong background in CFD and some 
knowledge of experimental fluid dynamics. The student is expected to start 
May 2019. 
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
• A Master of Science degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical 
Engineering or related disciplines
• Strong background in CFD, either using commercial software or in-house 
• Knowledge of fluid mechanics and heat transfer
Preferred but Not Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Familiar with ANSYS multiphysics simulations
• Experience of using CFD for heat transfer
•	Experience of experimental fluid dynamics
• Excellent communication skills
