InternationalYes, international applications are welcome
Closure DateSunday, November 25, 2018
A postdoctoral research assistant (PDRA) is sought to carry out research on the fluid
dynamics of liquids interacting with rigid or flexible 2D nanomaterials (e.g. graphene
nanosheets) within the aim to understand i) how fluid forces affect the nanosheet rotational
and deformation dynamics; ii) how the liquid can intercalate between layers in multi-layer 2D
materials under flow conditions, potentially giving rise to exfoliation of 2D materials layers.

The successful candidate will have a solid background in fluid mechanics and transport
phenomena, possess a proven ability to develop Molecular Dynamics and/or multiscale
simulations to study the interaction of liquids with molecular surfaces (ideally under non-
equilibrium conditions), and have relevant publications in this area. The candidate will hold a
Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Applied Mathematics, or
related engineering or science discipline (or be close to obtain the PhD title by the start of
the project).

The project is funded by the ERC project FlexNanoFlow. For further information on the ERC
project, see
