The Département d’Aérodynamique, Energétique et Propulsion (DAEP) of ISAESupaero
has opened a PhD job offer on the aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of Micro-Air
Vehicles and weakly loaded e-fans.

The PhD fellow will investigate the physical mechanisms responsible for
aeroacoustic noise of open rotors at low Reynolds and Mach numbers through
high fidelity numerical simulations. High order LES in-house codes, using both
Navier-Stokes and Lattice-Boltzmann approaches will be used. These will be
coupled with a Ffowcs Williams-Hawkins method for noise prediction. Numerical
results will be assessed using experiments (anechoic chamber) conducted in the
framework of a companion study. The understanding of the underlying aeroacoustic
phenomena will allow designing new rotor geometries with a high degree
of acoustic stealth for drone and flying taxis applications.

We are looking for highly motivated Students with a MSc. degree and/or an
Engineering degree in the field of aerodynamics and/or aeroacoustics. An
experience in unsteady CFD and programming skills on supercomputers
are welcome.
