The subject of the internship deals with modeling and simulation of various
phenomena occurring during demixing process in glasses, such as
nucleation/growth, spinodal decomposition and coalescence. The phase separation
is currently modelled by Navier-Stokes equations coupled to a phase-field model
(Cahn-Hilliard equation). Those equations are simulated by Lattice Boltzmann
methods (LBM).

In this internship, one or several phenomena of two-phase flows (buoyancy and
coalescence of bubbles or Rayleigh-Taylor instability, ...) will be simulated by
using an alternative phase-field model. The work will be performed inside a
numerical code implementing this alternative model, written in c++ and already
validated on several tests (e.g. vortex and Zalesak's slotted disk). After
checking numerical implementation, several simulations of parameters sensitivity
will be performed. Computation times will be compared between GPU and CPU platforms.

Skills required: Fluid Mechanics, or Materials Sciences or Applied Mathematics
or Physics with skills on scientific computing, physical modeling and analytical
