Modelling of turbulent combustion in underventilated fires

The task of the position will be to advance CFD modelling of
turbulence-chemistry interactions at reduced oxygen concentrations. This will
include chemical kinetics in turbulent flames, interactions between turbulence
and chemistry, influences of increased chemical timescale (lower Damköhler
number) on modelling of turbulence-chemistry interactions, development and
testing of models for use with averaged (RANS) and large-eddy simulations (LES). 

Modelling will primarily be based on OpenFoam, while other codes might also be
relevant. Simulations will be validated against experimental data.

The candidate will be part of the Thermo-fluids group of the Department of
Energy and Process Engineering:
