Description:
The University of Luxembourg within its multi-disciplinary and –cultural 
environment seeks a post-doc collaborator for participating in an advanced grant 
at the interface of academia and industry. The objective of this proposal is to 
integrate Modelica (www.modelica.org) in conjunction with the Numerical 
Optimizer into the simulation platform of ASETS-LUX s.a.r.l Luxembourg 
(www.siliconluxembourg.lu/asets-lux/) as the industry partner. 
Modelica is a one-dimensional simulation framework for representing an entire 
plant with its devices. Based on a Modelica model, the performance and design of 
a plant are carried out that subsequently optimised with Dakota. The goal of the 
project is to apply this technology for biomass2energy and waste2energy plants 
and furthermore onto other technology plants.
The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, in the heart of Europe, a multilingual country, 
and headquarters of many European institutions and businesses, offers a 
particularly interesting setting. The University of Luxembourg offers students 
the opportunity to pursue post-doctoral studies under the supervision in 
cooperation with other host institutions.

Profile of the successful candidate:
    • PhD in applied science or similar with focus on fluid dynamics
    • Familiar with simulation environments preferably DWSim or Modelica
    • One of the working languages: English, German or French
    • Willingness to work in an inter-cultural environment
    • Highly independent, motivated and with persistence in tackling and 
completing difficult tasks;
