Description:
I am looking for a postdoctoral fellow for a collaborative research project 
with a Canadian start-up company in the carbon sequestration space. The 
research is on gravimetric separation of carbon dioxide from industrial 
exhaust streams through a novel dual-spinning disk device. The project will 
involve conducting large eddy simulations (LES) of non-reacting flows of 
real gas mixtures to investigate mechanisms promoting gravimetric separation 
of the carbon dioxide. The simulations will be conducted with OpenFOAM in 
HPC clusters within Canada. Applicants must have received a PhD in 
mechanical, aerospace, chemical, or related engineering fields. Moreover, 
applicants must have expertise with OpenFOAM as well as a strong background 
in eddy-resolving simulations and (preferably) multi-species compressible 
flows.  

Due to the timeline constraints imposed by the industrial partner, the 
postdoc is needed urgently--preferably commencing November 1, 2021. As a 
result, candidates already eligible to work in Canada are preferred, 
although all applications will be reviewed.

Funding will be commensurate with typical postdoctoral positions at UBC. The 
candidate will be directly supervised by myself and the R&D lead of the 
industrial collaborator.
