Description:
FT Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an intern Acoustics Engineer 
looking to gain experience in the wind industry energy. Working closely with our 
Acoustics and Aerodynamics Engineers and alongside a team of Electronics, 
Mechanical and Software Engineers, you will be responsible for developing FEA 
analyses and models to conduct convected acoustics research in our wind sensor 
products.

The ideal candidate will be competent in commercial and open-source FEA 
modelling packages and have experience in working from theoretical principles to 
develop computer models. Practice in modelling coupling techniques such as 
piezoelectric, electro-mechanics, and acoustics is essential. Exposure to COMSOL 
and LTspice would be advantageous, along with experience in transducer 
modelling.
•	Responsible to the Director of R&D.
•	Key contacts include Aerodynamics & Acoustics Research team members, 
Engineering team members, Director of Technology.
•	Located in Sunbury-on-Thames, London, UK.
•	40 hours per week.
•	6-month contract.

Overall Job Purpose:
•	To develop FEA analyses and models in order to conduct convected 
acoustics research in wind sensor products.
•	To conduct experimental research on the aeroacoustics behaviour of the 
wind sensor products in order to validate FEA models. 

Main tasks and responsibilities:
•	Create FEA models and apply convected acoustics principles in the 
development and optimisation of meshes and computations to evaluate and predict 
the behaviour of wind sensor products.
•	Validate FEA models using the results of experimental data and feedback 
loop to theoretical predictions.
•	Create reports of theoretical proposals and experimental results.
•	Apply findings to optimise the performance and operation of 
piezoelectric transducers used in the wind sensor.
•	Assist in the creation of product concepts with mechanical design.
