The Mechanical Engineering Department (MIE) at the University of Illinois-Chicago 
is seeking applications for highly motivated Postdoctoral fellows to conduct 
research in the area of complex fluid mechanics and fluid dynamics. 

Applicants are expected to have a strong background in fluid mechanics and fluid 
dynamics of particle-laden flows, suspensions, and polymers. Candidates with 
expertise in computational methods/CFD and/or hands-on experience in fluid 
mechanics and in technologies such as particle image velocimetry (PIV) and 
particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) measurements are preferred. MATLAB and Machine 
shop experience are a plus. Excellent communication and written skills are 
required along with demonstrated success in previous academic research. The 
postdoctoral fellow must have a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline, and good 
mechanical design skills. Additionally, the selected candidates will be expected 
to oversee graduate and master students, collaborate with the team members, write 
reports, and publish peer-reviewed journal articles.
