Job description

The University of Perugia invites applications for one junior fellowship in the area of scientific comp. The 
applicant must have completed a Master's degree in physics, computer science, engineering, or any other 
scientific field completed no more than 10 years ago. PhD degree is considered a plus but it’s not 
mandatory. Previous research experience, in particular in connection with computing (infrastructural and 
services development) although not a prerequisite, will be considered an advantage.



The research activity will be carried out in Perugia, Italy, for a period of one year with a possibility to be 
renewed. The research program is supported by Perugia University under the newly funded “Uninuvola” 
project.

The project “Uninuvola” aims to build a federated infrastructure of computing resources, being the center 
for scientific research and High-Performance Computing developments of the University of Perugia. 
“Uninuvola” is a cloud-based solution for the management of heterogeneous and HPC requests, enabling 
interconnection with the National Computing Center (ICSC) and compliant with the European ESFRI and 
environmental sustainability roadmap. 

More specifically the candidate is expected to contribute to the design and setup of the main computing 
services needed for the computing federation management.

 

Financial Support

The successful candidate will be employed as a research fellow and will receive a stipend in accordance 
with the current regulations of the junior fellowship. The exact salary/stipend level will be confirmed upon 
appointment.

 

Additional Information

The position will be for 1+1 years and is open to candidates of any nationality. The successful candidate is 
expected to start working in April 2023.
