Their mission:
At the Institute of Electrified Aircraft Propulsion, we are researching future
lower-emission aircraft engines for civil transport aircraft and developing new
technologies to reduce climate-damaging greenhouse gases.
Become part of an open-minded team and analyze and solve future-oriented
scientific questions with a focus on alternative aircraft engines. Due to their
significantly increased system complexity, they place high demands, but also
have the potential to be more climate-friendly and quieter. You will be faced
with the following tasks:
Modeling, improvement and further development of digital engine control systems
Development of concepts and technologies for the optimization of the system
management of turboelectric or hybrid-electric powertrains, e.g.:
Development and design of controllers to regulate the rotational speed of the
rotor axis in direct correlation to the thrust of the drive
Development, implementation and adaptation of the conventionally used FADEC
(Full Authority Digital Engine Control) to the special features of a hybrid-
electric powertrain
Development and implementation of independent speed and energy control
strategies and architecture-specific control systems for the various individual
propeller drives
Development and design of simulations and software environments
Technical and organizational management of the working group System Analysis and
Control in the Department of Drive System Control
Acquisition and management of research projects
Do you also combine creativity with interdisciplinary thinking? Would you like
to design your work area largely independently and quickly take on
responsibility? Then we look forward to receiving your application! With us you
will find challenging scientific questions as well as the appropriate research
infrastructure for their implementation.
You will benefit from a wide range of career opportunities at the institute and
from an extensive training program.
Your qualifications:
Completed university master's degree/university degree in engineering sciences
as Master of Engineering or Master of Science, e.g. in the fields of aerospace
engineering, electrical engineering, measurement and control technology,
physical engineering, mechanical engineering or comparable degree
Demonstrable knowledge in the field of aviation safety requirements
Many years of verifiable experience in the planning and implementation of
research projects, preferably in the field of aviation, for customers from
research and industry
Many years of verifiable experience in the management of corresponding projects
with responsibility for acquisition, personnel, budgets, deadlines and
scientific quality
Experience in carrying out complex subject-specific studies and projects
Professional experience in the preparation and implementation of EU-funded
research projects
Knowledge of quality management
Successfully completed doctorate in the field of aeronautics or electrical
engineering desirable
ideally very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken
Willingness to travel on business at home and abroad is an advantage
Creativity combined with the ability to think in an interdisciplinary way and
the willingness to continuously develop are desirable
Ideally, good networking with other (national and international) research
institutions and universities as well as with industry
Willingness to participate in committees is desirable
Ideally, high motivation to help build structures and processes
ideally a high degree of independence, with the ability to work in teams but
also autonomously
goal-oriented working style with analytical, solution-oriented skills is an
advantage
