Postdoctoral Research Associate
Position Responsibilities:
The Scientific Computation Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
(RPI) is seeking a highly motivated individual to develop unstructured mesh based
technologies, and associated software, to be applied to the modeling of fusion
energy systems. The successful candidates must be able to interact with RPI
faculty, research staff and students as well as computational physicists and
computer scientist at partner universities and DOE laboratories.
Qualifications:
• PhD in Computer/Computational Science, Computational Physics, Applied
Mathematics, or related engineering or science discipline.
• Have expertise in a subset of the areas listed and interest in interacting
closely with others that provide expertise in the other areas:
o Development and optimization of Particle in Cell methods,
o Applying machine learning technologies,
o Simulation methods to model various fusion reactor physics, and/or
o Unstructured mesh technologies.
• Experience in parallel programming and high-performance computing with emphasis
on next generation HPC systems.
• Good knowledge of a subset of C++, C, Python and/or FORTRAN programming
languages and GNU/Linux operating system is required.
• Knowledge of modern software engineering tools (e.g., github, cmake, code
profiling, etc.) will be considered favorably.
