(Research Assistant / Associate Professor)

Harbin Institute of Technology, Shenzhen (HITSZ) invites applications for 
faculty positions at the rank of Research Assistant Professor or Research 
Associate Professor in the interdisciplinary fields of Computational Fluid 
Dynamics (CFD) and Machine Learning (ML). We seek highly motivated and 
accomplished individuals to join our dynamic academic environment and contribute 
to cutting-edge research and education at the forefront of these rapidly 
evolving areas.

Research Areas of Interest:
We are particularly interested in candidates with research expertise at the 
intersection of Computational Fluid Dynamics and Machine Learning. This 
includes, but is not limited to:
Physics-informed Machine Learning for fluid flows
Reduced-order modeling of complex fluid systems using ML techniques
Data-driven turbulence modeling and simulation
ML-enhanced algorithms for CFD solvers
Optimization and control of fluid systems using reinforcement learning
Application of ML to experimental fluid mechanics data analysis
Uncertainty quantification in CFD using ML
High-performance computing for coupled CFD and ML applications
Novel numerical methods for fluid dynamics inspired by ML

The successful candidates are expected to develop a vigorous and externally 
funded research program, publish in top-tier international journals and 
conferences, and contribute to the academic life of the university. Depending on 
the candidate's specific expertise and research focus, affiliations may be with 
relevant schools such as the School of Mechanical Engineering, School of 
Computer Science and Technology, or other interdisciplinary research centers at 
HITSZ.

Responsibilities:
Conduct independent and innovative research in CFD and Machine Learning.
Secure external research funding.
Publish research findings in leading academic venues.
Supervise graduate students (Master's and PhD).
Participate in academic and administrative service activities.

Qualifications:
A Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace 
Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
A strong research track record with publications in reputable international 
journals and conferences in CFD and/or Machine Learning.
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and a clear plan for future 
research directions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to teach effectively at the university level.

Preferred Qualifications:
Postdoctoral research experience.
Experience in interdisciplinary research combining CFD and Machine Learning.
Experience in developing and applying advanced numerical methods for fluid 
simulations.
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in CFD and ML (e.g., Python, 
C++, MATLAB).
Experience with high-performance computing platforms and parallel programming.
Experience in supervising research students.

Rank and Salary:
The positions are open at the rank of Research Assistant Professor or Research 
Associate Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Harbin
