GSSI offers a four-year PhD program with a competitive scholarship and a range of benefits.
Scholarships are not tied to specific topics in advance — candidates can choose their 
research focus within one of the following broad areas: Applied Partial Differential 
Equations, Fluid Dynamics, Numerical Analysis, Probability and Statistical Mechanics.

The Fluid Dynamics group comprises Prof. Davide Modesti, Prof. Francesco Viola and Prof. 
Roberto Verzicco and works on a variety of topics, including turbulent flows, high-speed 
aerodynamics, heat transfer, stability, cardiovascular fluid dynamics, multiphase flows, 
numerical methods for fluid flows, and high-performance computing.
