Calculation of torque and rotational speed for wind turbine cases
Hello guys, I'm a beginner of turbine simulation and I learnt how to use sliding mesh and dynamic mesh to simulate the turbine rotation. I set 10m/s inlet wind velocity in both cases. If I set a rotational speed of the rotating region, I can get the instantaneous moment in the sliding mesh case. Then I calculated the average moment and set the same value of spring preload in the dynamic mesh case which I can get the instantaneous rotational speed. When the turbine was stable, I can calculate the average rotational speed. However, this average rotational speed is quiet different from the value I set in the sliding mesh case.
From a teaching vedio, I learnt that I can get the maximum linear velocity of turbine from Facet Maximum's velocity magnitude. And then this value is divided by the fan radius to obtain the rotational speed. Is that correct? Or I get the wrong moment value from the sliding mesh case? |
hi.i am simulating the same subject and i want to get the garth of TSR with respect of time. i did it in the past and i got the plot very well but now i can not get that with the same setups, can you help me please ?
this is the article that i am trying to validate: Aerodynamic investigation of the start-up process of H-type vertical axis wind turbines using CFD- DOI: 10.1016/j.jweia.2020.104252 Yunus Celik-M. Pourkashanian-Linsha Ma |
What is garth of TSR? Did you mean a graph?
Can you give more information regarding your setup? How shall we help if know nothing about your setup. |
