Creating Monitor
 
Hi
I want to create a monitor between the inlet and outlet of a pipe (mass flow rate) for ensuring of convergence. can any one help me?

Go to monitors->surface monitors->select mass flow rate and the location on which you want this monitor

when we select inlet and outlet in the same time in ''surfaces'', the monitor will show the difference of mass flow rate between the inlet and outlet at the end of run?

No no it will not give the difference. It will give you the values of inlet and outlet. For having the difference you can write the scheme file to monitor

To add to that, in general it indeed doesn't give the difference, but sums the quantities in question instead. However, since you have an inlet and outlet, and area vectors are defined outward on boundaries in general if I'm not mistaken, it could be that you get the difference, as the mass flow rate on the inlet will be negative and on the outlet positive. It could be the other way around, I don't have access to Fluent at the moment, but you could just simply try it.

how can i write a scheme file for monitor?

Thanks but I can find the difference after run. I just want to define a monitor for the difference of the mass flow rate between inlet and outlet before the run for checking convergence during calculations.

That's indeed what I meant. I think if you select inlet and outlet as face when creating the mass flow rate monitor, it will give you the difference. Just give it a try and you'll know.
