Fluent Post Processing - Faded contour
 

Hi!

I am trying to export some contour pictures by using the "Save Picture" option but the picture always comes out faded (see attached), except for the colorbar. I have tried a few formats but no luck. Does anyone know whats going on?

Hi Diogo,

You can change the colour using the viewing toolbar from the ribbon.

Within this there is a drop down for the lighting option which is by default set to 'flat'.

If you change this to 'Phong' then you will get the results that you are expecting.

It is important to consider the printing process though as it may be beneficial to leave them with a washed out appearance as it is easier to interpret the results on a printed page.

Select the contour name and go to display turn off the lighting and apply

I'm not sure if Ansys has changed since this thread was posted as I cannot follow Kushal Puri's instructions when exporting an animation file. There is no "scene" menu, and in the "Graphics" section of the ribbon there is only the options of "Lights...", "Colourmap...", "Annotate..." and "Compose..."

I have also set the lighting option to 'Phong" as Merret suggested, but when I export the animation it is still as though we're watching it through frosted glass.

Why is it that Ansys by default seems to ruin contour plots with the lighting feature? Surely this is a feature that should be turned on and not turned off?
