Multi phase VOF-PLIC Jetsam Flotsam

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I am currently busy writing a VOF-PLIC code for a dambreak problem. I use a VOF PLIC method, but I still have some issues (see the attached picture). The PLIC method uses Youngs finite differencing for approximating the unit normal (so no ELVIRA or Least Squares). I use a split advection scheme (explicit-explicit) and I also tried an unsplit langangian advection (also didn't do the job). I discretised the Navier Stokes equations using a simple first order time integration and central differencing for the spatial discretisation on a staggered grid. This is on a 128x128 grid, a timestep of dt = 0.0001, a density ratio of 1/2 (rho1 = 1 and rho2 = 2) and no surface tension. I encounter some strange pieces of fluid outside the red phase after the several timesteps. Can someone help me to solve this problem?

Gr Yous

Did you ever have any success in resolving this issue? I'm also writing a code using the same structure as what you described and am also generating this flotsam.
