calculating distance between neighboring points

I have a very fundamental question: how can we calculate the distance between neighboring mesh points (not the distance from mesh point to surface.)
can someone help me?? thanks

What do you mean by "neighboring mesh points"? Do you mean the distance between the centre of a cell and the centre of its neighbouring cells? Since this is an unstructured mesh, then you need to start by getting the cell numbers of the neighbouring cells, and their cell centres, and then it's simple trigonometry to get the separation distance. Is that what you are after?
