Wigley Hull Experimental Data
Dear OF users,
could someone provide me the following paper: Chen, C.Y. and Noblesse, F. (1983) Comparison Between Theoretical Predictions of Wave Resistance and Experimental Data for the Wigley Hull. Journal of Ship Research, Vol. 27, No.4, pp. 215-228. Thanks a lot. Best regards, Stephane Sanchi. |
Stephane, I will send you the paper.

Comparing cfd-results with report results
Hello FOAMers,
in the last days I tried to make calculations for the wigley hull, 0-DOF and tried to compare my results with these from "The Summary of the Cooperative Experiment on Wigley Parabolic Model in Japan" (1983) for the SRI model (4m). Resistance fits quiet good (<2.5%), but when I try to compare the wave elevation at the hull, my max. positive value is about 0.055 (m). In the report the max. absolut value should be around 0.136 (m) for Fr=0.316 (see table 1, page 21). Concerning my personal background, I have no shipbuilding-background, but I'm really interested in that topic. So following are my questions: 1. Possible for the difference is the calculation of the dimensionless wave elevation in the report. Perhaps I made a mistake in my calculation for the wave elevation in the report(probably :), although I checked my calculations several times ). Perhaps someone can tell me the absolute max. wave elevation that I should get? Is this value around 0.136 m for Fr=0.316? 2. Plotting the wave elevation from the report and my own calculations, there is, as stated above, a difference which corresponds to a factor of roughly 2.5, which is also g/L=9.81 m s^-2/4 m. Does that make sense, altough not stated in the report? Perhaps someone has an idea for the solution of my problem. Thank you and best regards volker |

Dear Eric Paterson, I am doing some benchmark on classical hull geometry like wigley hull and DTBM 5415 for my cfd exam, so can I ask you to send me the paper? Thanks, Nicola |
Looking for Wigley Validation Data
Can someone forward me
Chen, C.Y. and Noblesse, F. (1983) Comparison Between Theoretical Predictions of Wave Resistance and Experimental Data for the Wigley Hull. Journal of Ship Research, Vol. 27, No.4, pp. 215-228. Thank you, Steve |
Dear Eric,
I also doing my thesis about wigley and DTMB hull. could u send this paper to me to. Thanks a lot. Faisal |
Hi dear all
I would be interested in receiving both papers mentioned above: - Chen, C.Y. and Noblesse, F. (1983) Comparison Between Theoretical Predictions of Wave Resistance and Experimental Data for the Wigley Hull. Journal of Ship Research, Vol. 27, No.4, pp. 215-228. - "The Summary of the Cooperative Experiment on Wigley Parabolic Model in Japan" (1983) for the SRI model (4m). Is it possible to have a numeric copy (pdf for instance)? Thanks a lot. |
Boom in the value of force all of a sudden
I am working on a ship hull using LTSInterFoam. My simulations went well in the beginning until after around 15000 timesteps, the force values boomed up. It was around 9000 N and all of a sudden it shooted up to 4e08 +.
Can anyone tell me what could be the possible reason. The hull is that of a barge. I have tried different slender hull forms with the same scheme and it all worked well. But when I tried this barge hull form , the value of force booms up after a while. |
Wigley Hull Validation
Hello,
I need some papers to get information about hull validation cases. Could someone provide me the following paper: Chen, C.Y. and Noblesse, F. (1983) Comparison Between Theoretical Predictions of Wave Resistance and Experimental Data for the Wigley Hull. Journal of Ship Research, Vol. 27, No.4, pp. 215-228. Thank you very much. |
I need this paper too. Will you send this paper for me?
