Feedback on Comet-Works/Star-CD

We're looking at purchasing Comet-Works, or possibly Star-CD. How does everyone think these compare to packages like Fluent or CFDesign? Is Comet-Works easy to learn? Does anyone use Comet with Solidworks, and could you comment on how well that interface works?

We are looking for a package that is fairly easy to use, and could be used easily during the design stage - so good interactions with SolidWorks are pretty important. We like what we have heard about Star-CD so far, especially since we'd like the capability to use some of the more advanced features (like combustion) when we need them.

Thanks for your feedback!

I quite like star-CD the vendors and support seem to be friendly and helpfull and the code is nice to use, the only other code i have used in anger is Phoenics which doesnt even compare, lets just say that Star-CD is to Phoenics what Buckingham palace is to a mud hut in the middle of the desert

it will takes much time to learn the starcd!and if you just for simple flow and heat transfer, cfdesign maybe the best!

Re: Feedback on Comet-Works/Star-CD

I have been a long time user of CFD and have evaluated many CFD codes over the years. I think Metry might need to be updated on the star-cd's latest product range - he may find his statement outdated! Maybe Metry should ask STAR for demo - assuming Metry is a CFD user and not a competitor to STAR, he may be pleasantly surprized!
