Plotting average value of a variable in XY plane.

Hi all
I am new to Fluent and Tecplot.
I am working in flow and heat transfer study in a plane channel.

Anyone help me how to plot mean temperature (Mean/average of temperatures along Y direction/constant x lines) and x in tecplot.
Thanks in advance

Calculating and plotting extracted variables

I believe the first step to creating the plot you need is to extract a line along the constant x value, and then plot that extracted line (which is a new "zone" in the Tecplot paradigm). To get a sense of this process I would recommend watching the Tecplot tutorial video titled:“External Flow – Comparing a CFD Simulation with Experimental Data” at this link: http://www.tecplot.com/blog/category/video/?product=360 as the creation of the Cp plot is similar in concept to what I think you want to accomplish.

Scott

P.S. It would be a good idea to watch all of the videos on the linked page if you are a new user of Tecplot 360 EX to get a sense of the Tecplot application paradigm.

Plotting average value of a variable in XY plane.

Thanks a lot for the information
In that video they are plotting variable along a slice. But in my case I want to find the average value of the variable (say Temperature) with x direction.
For example consider a plane channel, here we have 273 grid divisions are in X direction and 27 grid divisions are there in Y direction. I want to plot a average value of variable (say Temperature) with X axis. Here each point in the graph will be the average value of the variable at 27 nodes. Hence I need to find the average value of variable at 273 constant x planes and plot which is a difficult task if we do manually.

Thanks for any suggestions.

hi,I have almost same problem. I am also trying to plot average value of cp around 3d object. I can plot Cp. but for average it is showing a straight line. But I want to plot mean at every point of bluff body. I have selected a slice. but can not get right result. how you have overcome this problem.nplease share with me. I will be thankful!

You can compute an average of a zone through time by using Analyze>Perform Integration. If you have unsteady simulation results, you can do this through time, to get a plot with Time on the X-axis and Average on the Y-Axis.

This video computes Mass Flow rate over time, but the concept is similar:

Did you find a way to plot the time averaged data along y direction with x over a 2D plane?
The integral option in tecplot plot the averaged data of the whole plane with time . But not as the description above.

Thanks

hi
I am also trying to plot the contour of average value of cp around 3d cylinder with time in tecplot. can anyone tell me how to plot contour of average pressure on z direction of 3d cylinder with time.
Thank you

Tecplot has some scripts that can be used for computing a time average.

Check out the video at this link: https://tecplot.com/2022/06/29/pytec...ta-statistics/

Hopefully this helps. If you need additional help, I'd suggest contacting our support staff.
