CFD-FASTRAN Predicts Accurate Results for Mars Orbiter Entry Application

ESI Group, the technology leader in the field of advanced computational fluid dynamics simulation software presented a paper titled “Numerical Prediction for Mars Atmosphere Entry Vehicle Using a Density Based Solver” at the International Workshop on Radiation of High Temperature Gases in Atmospheric Entry.

The paper is on the Mars Orbiter Entry Application and the simulation is conducted with CFD-FASTRAN. The results of CFD-FASTRAN were among the best and ESI Group is the only contributor to present results for the new flight conditions requested this year.

The chairman of the workshop from ESA congratulated ESI Group for the results and the session’s chairman from CNES was impressed by the fact that a commercial code could produce such good results for a difficult application.
