Hello,
My geometry is pipe having 2 bends. I have uploaded the screenshot. Problem is when i try to create the o-grid after blocking the by selecting faces of the blocks . I get o-grid unsuccessful error. Please guide me with your experience and expertise. Thank you, Akshay |

Here is how I would do it. Selection of faces for ogrid creation is shown in the attached pictures, too.
First add 4 points on every circle curve (att1). This makes the association of vertices much easier and faster. You can use "Create Point by parameter on curve" for this. Create the initial block and move it in place (att2). From there on I used "Extrude faces" command to create all further blocks. You can move the vertices by aasociating them to their corresponding points. Further two splits are added in the bend regions, the newly created vertices are moved near the pipe surface and curve associations are done (att3). Now is ogrid time. Selection shows att4. Somehow ICEM messed the ogrid up at the end of the pipe (att5), so I had to correct that manually. I used "set position" and "set edge length" for this. Att6 and att7 show the resulting blocking and mesh. |

Hello kad,
First of all Thank you for your help. I used your method resulting in successful o-grid. Let me bother you with another small problem. After mesh being created quality of mesh for some elements is very poor (attachement). is this a problem because of geometry or association of the curves? Thank you, Akshay |

Hm, hard to tell from this screenshot. Normally it should not be a problem of associations. Actually you only need curve associations for the circle curves. Are the nodes on all radial ogrid edges evenly distributed? Did you activacte "copy parameters to all parallel edges" under "Pre-Mesh Params"? I share my geomety and blocking so maybe you can compare both models and find the error.

Hello,
Thank you kad. I got my problem solved. Error was because of the geometry topology. some surfaces were missing while importing the geometry. Thank you, Akshay |

Hi kad,
I have tried this method on my geometry but i am having following problems. Can you please help me with this? Problem_1 --> For better quality i had created an O-grid which resulted in distorted edges in a zig zag shape in both elbows(upper and lower elbows, can be seen in the pictures i.e pic 2 & 3). Please suggest me anything for it. Problem_2--> After fixing it manually using moving vertices, the quality somehow improved but cannot be improved further due to bad elements lying in the geometry (shown in pic 4). It would be really generous and kind of you if some one can suggest me anything Please. I have been trying for one week and tried everything but cannot improve the quality. Since i have to do grid independence study on this geometry. PLEASE help me out pic 1: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1v4Y...ew?usp=sharing pic 2: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b8x...ew?usp=sharing pic 3: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HkR...ew?usp=sharing pic 4: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rOm...ew?usp=sharing |
