hi all ,
As the title suggests how to mesh a multi element airfoil any leads as to how to proceed will help, ill tell you what i have done . Check overview and overview1 in attached images (1st and 2nd ones ) it shows what ive got and done and also look at closeup.png that shows the business area. The problem as you might have seen in first two images is the low orthogonality and high skewness and in the last image you see where these poor elements reside its right close to the wall of all of the 3 airfoils the largest one has the most. This image shows poorest elements with respect to orthogonality and when i do check the poorest elements in skewness its almost same elements, the worst part is the rest of the mesh is great and if i remove inflation i get a very decent mesh but then the BL is all gone so does any one know and be kind enough to help out on this Ive been stuck on this for two weeks now ! so please help me out. Hey redordead,
I am having a similar concern. Trying to mesh a modified design of a NACA0012 aerofoil with 2-elements (see attached fig) which needs different viscous layer meshing. The flow is to be transonic, and the shock wave is expected to be at the center of the two openings in the aerofoil. If you've managed to figure it our yourself, kindly help. If anybody reading this, and has something to offer, I welcome them too. Thanks! Regards, AMG |

Can you imported mesh in fluent and check the mesh quality? If the mesh passes fluent checks then you should be fine using this mesh.
You might be able to fix these bad elements in fluent with TUI commands. I recommend trying this because there are very few bad elements compared to the total number of mesh elements. Sometimes Ansys meshing may shows some meshes, especially in the boundary layer region, as bad quality mesh. But fluent may show otherwise. |
