hiii all
i imported step file from pro/e to gambit,it resulted in creation of many virtual edges faces,volumes.I basically have to subtract the geometry from the outer cube but i am unable to merge faces,volumes on the geometry[the virtual faces are the main problem].Also there are about 60 faces and the method seems quite cumbersome.any suggestions??

step file import, should generate real geometry. (in my case with ProE Wildfire 3)
Are also getting real geometry just after the import?

You could also try exporting an ACIS (*.sat) file from Pro/E.

Generally speaking, STEP and IGES are two worst (sloppy) neutral formats available and every CAD vendor has their own flavor. ACIS, on the other hand, is standardized and higher quality..

Also, Gambit is built on an ACIS geometry kernel, so it should work a little better (one less translation).

I never had problem with STEP import (from ProE) . (no need to use Clean Up tool)
