Hi All,
I am new to ICEM and after a few days of reading the manuals and going through many threads in the forum, i have kind of been able to form my mesh(unstructured) for the benchmark case of flow past the cylinder. As you can see from the images, I have used prism to form meshes around the cylinder and also density mesh around the same area. The flow direction is + X. The mesh sizes are assigned using the part mesh and i have tried to change the size of the part meshes, but there was not much change. I have now assigned only 6 layers for the prism and still there is a problem with how the meshes are divided as they go further. I actually want more layers but then the mesh gets worse. Can anyone please help with me what i can do to improve the mesh? I will first simulate a uniform flow condition for a low Reynolds number. Later i want to investigate with a higher Reynolds number. In that case to capture the vortices should i extend the prism meshes further down the wake field? Waiting for a reply Thanks in advance Arun mesh.jpg 3d model.jpg |

Thanks for you reply.
This case is just to help me learn and simulate a simple problem using ICEM/Fluent. The actual problem i will be tackling is different and i have to use unstructured mesh. So i am just using the same for this problem. Also my supervisor said. Can you guide me? |

ya, i am working on the mesh and realized that could be the problem. It is because i have divided the surface in that way to give more points on the circle.
Not sure what is an alternative though? Regards Arun |
