Hi CFD community.
I'm modeling a reactor with a packed bed of tiny particles.
But I am still fighting with the mesh.
I have the geometry in ICEM and I made the mesh, which I think looks ok.
But then, when I export it to CFX and I try to define the boundary conditions, for some surfaces there is a single point (not on the surface) at the point of origin. This is visible because of the arrows used in CFX to illustrate the defined BCs.
I cannot find this point in ICEM, the mesh looks fine.
I am really frustrated!!!
Please help me, if you have any ideas please let me know!

(I imported the geometry from Unigraphics UGS, but I also tried to draw it directly in ICEM. I don't know if perhaps using the 'Repair Geometry' command could help, but I tried it without success)

I don't have any ideas what to try else, hope somebody can help.

Sorry, I have no idea. This may be something to take to CFX Tech support... Even academic users qualify for tech support, so give them a call. You can find your customer number in your license.

I have some other questions regarding the 'Repair Geometry' Tool in ICEM:
When I repair my geometry and then I zoom in to the different corners, the lines don't touch and the points are not really at the 'perfect' position.
Is that normal? Or is it because of an error I'm doing when I import my geometry. Should I delete all points and lines before using this function?
Can you delete lines after using this function and put some new ones and then go on with meshing using this lines?

You could increase your Triangulation tolerance before trimming, etc.

Include an image and I can give a better estimate of the issue.

The problem is solved:
The strange markers in cfx-pre (e.g. for symmetry planes red double arrows) I had in points not in the domains (anywhere in the room) don't bear any meaning!
The problem was not there. The mesh had some nodes sticking out of the domain and this resulted in the error msg!

Hi, cibo! I have recently encountered a similar situation in CFX-Pre. When I defined boundary conditions on an ICEM mesh, arrows appear in the domain where they should not. It looked like it pointed at the dummy material point, which I created in ICEM. I would very much like to clarify that my solution would not be affected as a result. Thanks so much!
