simplified flame?!

Hi!
I have no solver-license for combustion and thermal radiation... Is it possible to simulate a simplified flame?! Attached is a picture.. like the "burner" works. Is there a possibility to simulate this?! thank you! |

You could model a flame as a simple heat source. But it depends on what you are trying to model - if just the heat then this approach is fine, but if you want accurate temperatures, species or flame shapes you will need a more sophisticated approach.

Yes, it should be a simple heat source... With a temperature, heat transfer coeff. Is that possible? How can I create it? Insert the "flame" as seperate body? As inlet (maybe a gas with thermal radiation)? thanks! |

No, I think you misunderstand what a source term is. A source term is an additional bit on the end of the equation where you can add or subtract "stuff". So in this case I suspect you probably know the amount or rate of fuel being added, so you know the heat input. So I would then use a total energy source term, with units of Watts to add the amount of heat the combustion would add to the domain. This approach would accurately model the global conservation of heat as the correct amount of heat is being added, but the detailed flow around the fire would not be correct as you are not modelling the details of the flame. But if the details of the flame are not important then this approach is fine.
