Modeling PCB in CFX

Hi,

I will perform thermal management simulations for a electronic box, contaning heatgenerating components attatched to an PCB-card. ISs there anyone that have any "smart" idea how to model the PCB? implementing a detailed model of the PCB-card will be horrible to handel and as far as I know ther is no predefined PCB-models in CFX.

HELP ME!!!

You can simply model it as a heat source. Is that all you are looking for? You can make the heat source as complex as you like if you want the heat coming out of individual components, or simple and just assume it is a big box with evenly distributed heat.

That I know, my question is more about the modelin of the PBC-card to simulate the ortotropic heat transfer in the direction of the cupper layers.

CFX has orthotropic thermal conductivity. But my PCBs are generally made of copper, haven't seen many made of cupper.

1)Hand calc thermal properties in each direction
2)use orthotropic material in CFX

I'm also doing similar simulations. Can anybody tell me does it make much difference using orthogonal thermal conductivity than just simply use isotropic thermal conductivity? I recall I did comparisons with horrible boundary layer mesh and the result was similar. But I don't believe in it anymore since I realized the mesh was way under standard.
