Residence Time laminar vs turbulent flow

Does anybody have experience what is residence time of fluid in same geometry if we compare laminar vs. turbulent conditions?
residence time of fluid in turbulent flow is lower if we compare it with laminar flow in same geometry? |

This question is not answerable. What is creating the laminar or turbulent conditions? A higher driving pressure? Or a change in fluid properties? Or a change in geometry?
All these things would have different effects on residence time. But if you have a flow which you model with a pressure difference as laminar model and again as a turbulent model I would expect the laminar flow model to have shorter residence time as it should have less effective viscosity. |
