Hello all,

I'm new to turbo machinery analysis in Ansys. Used bladegen to create blade profile - created mesh - CFX analysis is done.

Beta-in and Beta -out are taken as input parameters & Total to Total efficiency is taken as ansys workbench output parameter. I have added different design points in beta-in and beta-out in parameter set but didn't see any change in efficiency.

Is there a method to change beta blade angle and calculate the efficiency without repeating complete analysis..? In short how to optimize my design ?

Thank you for your help

One of the biggest misunderstanding about CFD in turbomachinery is like what you have. CFD is not a design tool, nothing but an analysis tool. Design optimization might be available in a large loop with CFD, but you need to know how to change geometry. CFD is just one of the whole design process starting from meanline design, meanline analysis, throughflow design, throughflow analysis, blade geometry design, blade loading analysis, and finally the CFD. You are now asking the final step from the scratch.

Hello,

Thank you for reply.

Does this mean I have to arrive at optimum blade angle using CFD analysis manually and then input it to bladgen and confirm my analysis ? Shouldn't CFX be a tool that facilitate to do CFD analyis ?

If you are to aero design turbomachinery, you should start from the first step which is the meanline design. That will lead you close to optimum. If you jump into CFD at first, you are looking at one tree in the woods.
