Hi all.. i have a single stage axial turbine to perform a CFD analysis.. i tried to import the IGES model to bladegen , but it seem it s not getting read. I always receive a error message saying it can't read the data. Which version of IGES is required for the same ? is that an issue? please help me...

In my opinion you have to read the IGES file with the DesignModeler. After that you have to construct some lines or planes (I have seen it only once during a training) to "extract" one channel and the boundaries of that channel (this is a description of the boundaries by many points, which can be used to create two lines).
For that procedure you need BladeEditor (take a look at wb_bm.pdf in the documention for the TurboSystem). BladeEditor is a plugin for DesignModeler to follow the steps I have described here. You are than able to mesh the turbine with TurboGrid. I am not sure, if you can load it into bladegen then, too. Take a look at the different components of the turbosystem and when they should be used. |

There is BladeGen.hlp help file in the following directory C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\v121\aisol\BladeModeler\BladeGen . I have not found any tutorials yet..and do not think there exists...

You could also try to put your model to TurboGrid like Max said:
1. Firstly configure your BladeModeler license so that the BladeEditor plugin for DesignModeler is activated (look in this pdf wb_bm.pdf how to perform this). You will have then a new toolbar with new features in Desin Modeler. 2. You just need to attach/import the Cad model (or Iges file) to Design Modeler. 3. Make a flowpath feature with meridonal sketches of the hub, shroud, inlet, outlet. 4. Use ExportPoints feature to transfer the blade to Turbogrid. Please try it and report if you were successful! I am also trying to do this, but I am stuck at ExportPoints, there is always an error. If somebody made it through from CAD to Turbogrid please tell me!!Thanks! |
