Can anyone advise me on how to simulate flow through PCV valve? Do I use FSI method and if so, 1-way or 2-way? Thanks a lot.

Hi Glenn,
PCV reffers to Positive Crankcase ventilation system. There is quite a good description on this link incl. images. http://www.buet.ac.bd/me/icme/icme20...ME05-FL-08.pdf
Basically, valve of semi cylindrical/conical shape with small cylinder inside which is attached to valve via spring. The flow of air through valve is regulated by position of this small cylinder (simillar to ball valve or check valve). I have no experience with immersed solid simulations, I suspect this is it and just want the advise which type of Ansys simulation to use to find out what preload should the spring have to maintain the piston/culinder in certain position to allow certain volume flow.
Thanks a lot

Are you sure you need FSI? Can you just model this as a series of solutions with the valve in fixed position and get the forces on it that way?

If you feel you need a transient moving valve solution, please look up the ball valve tutorial/example that is well known in CFX. They have done that example with moving mesh and immersed solids (I believe).
