use ICEM CFD software to see all the characteristes of your mesh or get running and see the features via post cfd through the solution.

Hi, Ghorrocks,
I've created a 2D mesh in ANSYS Mesh. Then I've tried to import it in CFX (wishing it would extude it 1 cell thick), but a message informs me that there has been an importing error, since "Only 3D volume meshes can be imported".

I need to run a "2D" simulation in CFX. What can I do?

Many thanks

You should make your mesh 1 element thick. Set Solver Preference to CFX in ANSYS Meshing and it will do the job.

Hello, Antanas!
I had already set, in "Solver Preference" CFX.
But, as I reported before, when I try to import the surface mesh to CFX, then I get the previous merror message.
I really really neeed an help, thanks!

I thought that you export your mesh to a file and then try to import it in CFX. So in you case you can:
1. Export mesh to say fluent file format. Then open CFX and import it (don't connect Mesh and CFX analysis systems).
2. Extrude your geometry in DM and then generate mesh.

I exported the mesh in fluent format, and then imported it in CFX, and now I can see it has already been extruded!!!! THANKS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!

Now I have a new question:
The thickness mesh (the contour of the 3D mesh, which is 1 cell wide) cannot be separated in portions. And I need to create different bundaries like inlet, outlet and so on... How can I "brake" the "wall surface body" (that's the name of the contour) in order to create the different bundaries?

Thanks again!
