I'm using Fluent to investigate the aspiration efficiency of a devices as a function of Particle Diameter.
To do this, I created a bunch of DPM injections (one for each size fraction), and I release them from my inflow surface. To determine my "base concentration", I count the particle tracks at the inlet and divide by the Volume of flow at the inlet. To determine the "sampled concentration", I count the particle tracks traversing my Inlet cross section, and divide that by the volume flow rate through the Inlet. To determine my aspiration efficiency, I divide the two numbers. I fear that this method might be biased by however, as the injection surfaces does not have a uniform mesh. Is it better to create a new bounded surface to create a more uniform release? Is my method for determining concentration estimates appropriate, or do I need to run a coupled model for each injection? At this moment, my model uses inert water droplets in Air that trap on all solid surfaces. Any advice and/or guidance is appreciated. |
