Consideration of source term

Sir,
This is regarding a simple fluid flow problem with just a heat source in a duct. When i use gambit as modeling and meshing tool. If i give source term only. It is giving wrong answer. The temperature term is not at all considered. Iam getting velocity and pressure distribution. But energy equation is not solved. All temperatures are same. I want to know whether any meshing problem or error in giving Boundary conditions. My B.C are inlet velocity and exit pressure at ambient condition. Can you please clarify my doubt? Thanking you Nagarajan.V Application Engineer. |

You have to assign such a source either thru patching or using User Defined Source (UDS). Try this with a unsteady state calculation and see the difference.

First you need to check the energy equation from the solver definition. Otherwise, temperature is uniform everywhere. If your heat source is on the wall, set the heat source on the wall through B.C. panel. There are three different thermal boundary conditions available. If your heat source is in the inner of the flow field (volume heat source, set the combustion or anything like radiation.
