In a centrifugal pump, the gap between casing and impellor is very small (about 0.004 inch). In that location, how to mesh by providing atleast 5 or 6 elements? Is it possible to mesh for such small gaps in a big domain?

looking for a kind response

regards satyamu

You can mesh the small region first (at least the small surfaces) and then you can apply size function keeping the meshed surface as source face and mesh entire volume.

I have a doubt on this! Are N-S equations able to capture the flow physics in such a small region? Is continuum assumption valid in this domain?

thanx Rajesh
