Hi Seeta,

If iam not mistaken you need to track the fluid particles over a period of time.

Lets imagine the velocity at the inlet is 5m/s and the length of your domain is 50m.

The flow should exit the outlet in 10 seconds typical.

so you can run your transient simulation for 10 seconds and track the fluid particels at various time intervals.

Hope these are helpful.

hi rajit, in flow domain if we have any obstacles , suppose if we have a wall mounted cube in a channel, in this case we should not take this is as flwo through time. is nt it. becoz flow is affected by the cube. in this case how can we found out. what i want to ask about resedence time . whether flow through time and residence time are same or not. thanks a lot for helping me.

Hi seeta,

If you draw a pathline the particles might intercept its own trajectory because of the cube in the flow.

So certain fluid particles might take more time to leave the domain than the other.

Hope this answers your question.
