free surface problem/time dependant

i have 2 problems.One is how do u put a time dependant inlet velocity and second is can we get the free surface diagram of water when it flows over a semi circle(the general case is when the flow is continuously there n the free surface is to be known eg a rock in the bottom of the pond...the case i want to know is when water flows in at the initial moment eg to demonstrate functioning of a weir say...please please help

You can specify the velocity by writing a user defined function.
Regarding your second problem there is a tutorial in fluent. Check that out. |

Yes use udf or use transient profile file (described in UG). To plot free surface create surface of volume fraction 0.5.
