Turbulence Modeling over Rain Foil

All,
I am modeling the fluid flow over a rain erosion foil to witness the effects of the whirling arm test. The foil is located on a propeller blade and there are five nozzles connected to the retaining barrel that simulates rain particles of sizes 1-4 mm. I am highly interested in the resulting wall shear stresses of the foil. That being said, I usually will use the SST k-w turbulent model with y+<1 when only concerned with the velocity profile. However, using this theory for my current model gives me too small of cell sizes that result in particle trajectory failure. My question then becomes, what turbulent model should I use? I have been looking at realizable k-e with enhanced wall treatments, but I am not sure of it's y+ requirements. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. |
