Could anybody tell me how a rotating cylinder can be modeled in fluent....I have tried moving mesh method and rotating reference method. But the rotating effect has not been seen so far. Some body Pls help me...

Rotating reference frame will work, try again.

Have you define the correct rotating axis? have you define the rotating fluid? is there any reference can tell you it is rotate or not in your case?

Thanks susan....
But it works only for bigger gap..while for smaller gaps, the solution doesnt converges.....pls somebody helps.......

for the converge problem, try to start the rotating speed from a smaller one, say from one tenth of the real rotating speed, and then increase step by step, maybe it help

Ok, thanks....
I need to check whether i have made any mistakes so far, in the case of rotating cylinder. So i want a gambit mesh file of any rotating body and its boundary conditions so as to run it in fluent and to compare the results....Anybody could please tell me where can i find the ".msh "file of any rotating body....Somebody please help me.....

like the rotating sphere in another thread:

If it are simple smooth cylinders you might consider to have a stationary grid and put the rotation in the (moving wall) boundary condition. This could simplify your problem dramatically

Is it possible to give rotational velocity in fluent 2ddp?
My problem is a rotating cylinder....I have seen the boundary condition options ( stationary/ moving) in fluent 2ddp. But is it effective?

Yeah this should work. As long as you set the proper center of rotation for both cylinders seperately.
