Hi dear friends,
I studied some papers I dont understand the following sentences: *deltP the pressure drop across the turbine, evaluated using the mass average values at the inlet and outlet sections of the computational domain, respectively. what is the exact meaning of the "mass average values"? Is there such a option"mass average values" in fluent? I dont know that how to compute this parameter in Fluent. I am grateful that guide me more. Thanks, Best, Aja |

They are referring to a mass-flow (or mass-flux) weighted average. In fluent, this is called a mass-weighted average. It shows up as options in your reports and integral options.
A mass-weighted average pressure drop is the mass-flux weighted pressure at 1 minus the mass-flux weighted pressure at 2. You multiply the static/total pressure at each face/cell by the mass-flux (density x velocity). The mass-weighted average pressure drop is the correct pressure drop needed in order to have the pressure drop (the forces) be equal to the momentum change. Only in the case of uniform constant density flows does the un-weighted pressure drop correctly give the momentum change. |

My English language is not good. I compute pressure drop according to the your following sentences: Quote:
So, What is your exact meaning of "You multiply the static/total pressure at each face/cell by the mass-flux (density x velocity)."? Thanks |
