STAR-CD with ProE CAD package!

Hi: I would like to know if anyone is using STAR-CD as their CFD tool, with ProE as their CAD package. If so, which path are you following to translate the solid model, create the mesh, and then transfer into STAR-CD. I see that there is no direct jump from ProE into STAR-CD. Thanks for your input.

It depends on what mesh geration package do you want to use and which ProE modules do you have.
The normal way to do this is to create a clean solid modell of the fluid part. If you have the solid part then create an assembly where you subtract the solid part from something to get the "fluid" If ProE complains about tolerances you have to switch to absolut tolerances by editing the config.pro If you have Pro/Mesh you can just create a nice surface mesh and export it in the nastran format. This gives the best quality of the surface description. Otherwise use the stl or iges format to export the surface geometry. ICEM also provides a direct interface for using HEXA/TETRA within ProE. |
