Real time Simulation

Hi,

Can anyone briefly explain me, what, where and why a real time simulation is used?

A brief explanation would be appreciated.

What : It is a simulation of a physical situation that happens at the same speed of real-world.
Why : The main usage of true real-time simulation is for training purposes. A good example are Full Flight Simulators. You can look at CAE's product, for example.
Where and when : Well, wherever and whenever you are able to get the computer structure to realize such a simulation.
