2-D flow analysis.

Hi,
i am planning to project title "Comparative Study of dragcoefficient for 2-D Bluff bodies" for a Bus body design. prob: i am going for a 2-D analysis as it will save my computaion time and due to system availability/capabalitiy. also, a Bus body design can be analysed in 2-D considering front,top and side view.as they represent regular rectangular shape. can you justify? |

For a range of Reynolds numbers, the body will shed vortices alternatively - definitely 3D.
For other values, there will be an attached vortex attached to the back of the bus. Still 3D. I don't know if there is any range of Re in which the flow is 2D. Sorry to be discouraging. |

The size of the re-circulation zone will be different between 2D and 3D. Face it, this is a 3D problem ....
